5 Questions With The July 2024 #DryTortugas Photo Contest Winner

Meet Michelle White, our July 2024 #DryTortugas Photo Contest winner. We had the chance to ask her a few questions about her experience at the Dry Tortugas National Park. Read on to learn how she captured her amazing photo!

1. When did you visit the Dry Tortugas National Park? Did you arrive by seaplane, the Yankee Freedom ferry, or another way?
My husband and I went to the park in June 2024 and arrived by ferry.

2. If you arrived by the Yankee Freedom, how was your ferry trip?
It was our first time taking the ferry and also our first time visiting the park. We spent our time checking out the beautiful views and relaxing by our window seats. 

3. How did you capture your winning photo? What inspired you to take it? Did you use any cool camera gear?
On the ferry ride to the park I told my husband I was going to take a picture that wins the photo contest. When I took pictures throughout the day on my old iPhone, I kept telling him that this one might be the winning photo.  I did end up with many cool pictures by the end of the day and chose this one to submit.

4. What made your trip to the Dry Tortugas memorable?
We have been to Key West probably a dozen times through the years. We always say we want to go to the park. It was so nice to finally be able to go. We loved the relaxing ferry ride, the history at the fort, the great snorkeling and just being able to do something different.

5. What do you plan to do with your National Park Annual Pass?
We live in Michigan and would love to check out some parks in the Midwest but Yellowstone is on our bucket list.
